Patrick Mahomes Sr., not known for making headlines during his son’s tenure in the league, found himself in the news this week.
The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was detained in the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, and is now confronting a charge of DWI for the third time or more.
Randi Mahomes and Pat, who married in the late ’90s but divorced in 2006, have openly discussed the challenges they faced during their marriage. Despite the hardships, they maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship, as explained by Randi on her website.

The 53-year-old former baseball player, who had a career in the major leagues from 1992 to 2003, is now facing a charge of driving while intoxicated for at least the third time.
Mahomes Sr. had previously been arrested for a DWI in April 2018, pleading guilty to the charge. He received a 40-day jail sentence, served on weekends in 2019 and 2020.
This recent arrest occurs just a week before his son’s team is set to face the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl on Feb. 11.
