Taylor Swift has rapidly developed a keen understanding of football, according to Patrick Mahomes in a recent interview.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback shared how the pop superstar, who began dating his teammate Travis Kelce last summer, has immersed herself in the sport’s intricacies.
“She’s asking the right questions, almost like she’s trying to become a coach,” Mahomes explained in his profile for Time 100, published Tuesday. He recalled meeting Swift in September 2023 when she attended a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears to support Kelce.
Mahomes, who has encountered many celebrities, praised Swift as “probably the most down-to-earth” and remarked on her constant work ethic, saying, “She’s never not working.”

Despite the high media attention surrounding Swift and Kelce’s relationship, Mahomes affirmed that it hasn’t distracted the team. “We just embraced it,” he stated. He expressed appreciation for the added visibility, noting, “At the end of the day, football has always been this bruising sport. We want to make it fun, where kids grow up and play football and show their personality and be who they are. This year really magnified that.”
Mahomes and Kelce led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory in 2024, with Swift and Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, supporting from a VIP suite. The pair have become closer after attending multiple games and celebrating the championship win together in Las Vegas.
Brittany, who has two children with Mahomes, recently defended Swift after a viral clip claimed the “Lover” singer “ruined football,” illustrating the strong camaraderie among the group.
