Patrick Beverley reflected on a recent incident during the closing minutes of the Milwaukee Bucks’ season-ending loss to the Indiana Pacers, where he threw a basketball at a fan behind the team bench.
Speaking on the Pat Bev Podcast, Beverley described the event as “an unfortunate situation that should never have happened.” He admitted, “What I did was wrong, and there’s no excuse for it. I need to do better, and I promise to improve.”
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that a Pacers fan had taunted Beverley with a mild jest about the Bucks’ impending playoff exit, saying, “Cancun… Cancun on three.”
However, Beverley indicated that the interaction was more provocative than reported. “There was more to it than just ‘Cancun on three,'” he explained. “I’ve faced a lot of verbal abuse in the league, but this was something I hadn’t encountered before. The comments were severe enough that several fans could have been ejected.”

Beverley also mentioned that security at Gainbridge Fieldhouse offered to remove the disruptive fans earlier in the game, but he initially declined. “I generally don’t like having fans removed,” he stated.
Now 35 and approaching free agency, Beverley could face disciplinary actions, including suspension and fines, as he looks to join a new team next season.
