The crew from “The Pat McAfee Show” had a less-than-stellar experience at the U2 concert, despite the hype surrounding the band’s performance at the MSG Sphere ahead of Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas.
While acknowledging the impressive setup of the Sphere, producer Ty Schmidt didn’t mince words when expressing his disappointment with the show. “I thought I was a U2 fan going into last night’s show…but I realized pretty quickly, I’m not a U2 guy. In fact, I’d go so far as to say U2 sucks,” Schmidt candidly shared.
Schmidt’s sentiments were echoed by McAfee, who noted that the band’s setlist lacked their iconic hits. “The setlist was no songs that we knew — for two hours straight,” McAfee lamented.

Even after acknowledging the Sphere’s awesomeness, McAfee expressed anticipation for upcoming performances by other bands, indicating a desire for a different musical experience.
The conversation concluded with excitement for future acts scheduled at the Sphere, including Phish and Dead and Company, suggesting a preference for these bands over U2’s performance.
