Former West Virginia wide receiver Gary Jennings has secured a new opportunity in the National Football League.
After an impressive season with the XFL’s St. Louis BattleHawks, Jennings inked an NFL contract with the Carolina Panthers back in May. His journey began with a rookie minicamp invitation from the Panthers, which he has successfully transformed into a spot on the roster as they head into the summer.
Presently, he holds a position on the Panthers’ practice squad. Regrettably for Jennings, his personal life has become a subject of public attention. It appears that his girlfriend took to Instagram to expose him for maintaining another relationship throughout their time together.
Carolina marks the eighth NFL team that Jennings has been associated with since entering the league in 2019. Carolina’s front office is led by GM Scott Fitterer, who was part of the Seattle Seahawks’ front office team that drafted Jennings in the fourth round during the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jennings has made one NFL appearance thus far.
The former WVU wide receiver showcased his skills this spring under the guidance of former Mountaineer Anthony Becht, who served as the head coach of the BattleHawks. During this time, Jennings hauled in 11 passes for 149 yards and scored three touchdowns. He also made a name for himself with the XFL Play of the Year, receiving a 64-yard fake punt for a touchdown.
Throughout his college career at WVU, Jennings accumulated an impressive 168 receptions, 2,294 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns.
We extend our best wishes to Jennings girlfriend in her future endeavors, as no one should have to experience the kind of situation she is currently navigating.
