Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur appears unconcerned about Jordan Love being distracted by his lucrative new contract.
The Packers recently signed Love to an impressive four-year contract extension, making the 25-year-old the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL by annual salary.
LaFleur addressed reporters on Saturday after the Packers’ practice at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. When asked about Love’s new nine-figure deal, the seasoned coach shared his thoughts.
“With much given, much is expected. That’s the reality of our league, but I think he’ll embrace that,” LaFleur said confidently. “You won’t see a difference. I think he’s been raised the right way. I always joked with him that if he ever changes, I’m going to call his mom.”

Love had been participating in a “hold-in” while his representatives negotiated with the Packers’ front office. Although he was present at training camp, he was not fully participating until the new contract was finalized.
Love suited up for the first time on Saturday, ready to refocus on his role as the team’s starting quarterback.
With the contract issues now resolved, Love can concentrate on building upon his impressive debut season as the Packers’ full-time starter.
Last season, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record and securing a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in his first playoff game.
Packers fans are hopeful that Love will follow in the illustrious footsteps of his predecessors, Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. In a humorous exchange, Rodgers even offered Love some playful financial advice after hearing about his successor’s new deal.
The team and its supporters are eager to see how Love will continue to develop and lead the Packers in the upcoming seasons.
