The internet remains ceaseless in its penchant for trolling.
Over the weekend, Charlotte Hornets forward P.J. Washington tied the knot with Alisah Chanel, the mother of his second child. While many celebrated this union, there were others who took to social media to engage in some online trolling.
The wedding took place a little over a year after the 25-year-old former Kentucky player had proposed to Chanel in August 2022.
This proposal followed Washington’s breakup with his previous girlfriend, Brittany Renner, who had attracted controversy. Washington and Renner share a child together.
P.J. Washington and Chanel welcomed their son on December 17, 2022. However, their joyful moment has not been without its share of critics and detractors.
On the basketball front, P.J. Washington has delivered strong offensive performances in the first two games of the Hornets’ new NBA season, averaging 19 points in 31 minutes of play. He has also contributed with four rebounds, 2.5 assists, and a steal.
The Hornets are set to play their next game on Monday, facing off against the Brooklyn Nets, who have experienced two consecutive losses.
P.J. Washington, after re-signing with the Charlotte Hornets in the offseason on a three-year, $48 million deal, expressed his strong desire to remain in Charlotte. He has grown fond of the city and the organization, as he mentioned during a press conference:
“For me, I always wanted to stay in Charlotte, no doubt about that.”
Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak playfully interjected, saying, “That’s not what your agents were saying. It’s the first I’ve heard of that.”
P.J. Washington, selected 12th overall by Charlotte in the 2019 NBA rookie draft, has maintained steady averages of 12.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in his first four years with the team.
With the support of talents like point guard LaMelo Ball, young prospects Mark Williams and Brandon Miller, and seasoned players Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier, Washington aims to help Charlotte improve upon their 27-55 record from the previous season and make a run for the playoffs.
Best wishes to P.J. on his marriage!
