The Ducks’ head coach made the conversation deeply personal as he addressed his players in the locker room, declaring, “They’re chasing clicks, but we’re chasing victories.” It was an unmistakable jab at the flashy approach Deion Sanders had brought to Boulder since taking over as head coach.
Regardless of your opinion on Lanning’s pregame message, it undeniably had a positive impact on his players. At present, they hold a commanding 28-0 lead over Colorado late in the first half.
But Lanning wasn’t the only one taking aim at Sanders and the Buffaloes. Even the Ducks’ mascot got in on the action.
Deion’s reign as the undefeated king of college football has come to an official end.
