Jamal Murray didn’t actually witness the most significant basket of his career as it happened.
In a dramatic moment at Ball Arena, Murray hit a step-back 15-footer over Anthony Davis at the buzzer on Monday night, securing a thrilling 101-99 victory for the Denver Nuggets over the Los Angeles Lakers. This shot completed a remarkable comeback from a 20-point deficit in the second half.
As the ball sailed through the net and the crowd erupted, Murray found himself tumbling into the Nuggets’ bench alongside Davis.
“I just lost my balance and fell. I think A.D. was blocking my view, and then I heard everyone scream—that’s when I knew the shot had gone in,” Murray recounted, surrounded by celebrating teammates after his buzzer-beater extended the Nuggets’ dominance over the Lakers with their 10th consecutive victory.

This win also gave Denver a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference series as they prepare to head to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday night.
In another incident during the game, one of Nikola Jokic’s brothers was involved in an altercation, having struck a Lakers fan in the stands.
On the court, Jokic himself delivered a stellar performance, notching a triple-double with 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Michael Porter Jr. contributed 22 points, and Aaron Gordon added 14 for Denver.
Overall a very productive outing from all the Jokic brothers.
The upcoming Game 3 promises to be highly anticipated, following these intense and eventful matchups.
