You’ve got to be doing something right if the GOAT wants a picture with you.
Ilona Maher, star player with the United States women’s rugby sevens team that won a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics, took a picture with Tom Brady while in Paris.
“I asked him. Had to for my teammate @klkirsh,” she captioned the video on Instagram on August 4, referring to teammate Kristi Kirshe, a Massachusetts native. Brady, of course, spent the majority of his NFL career as the quarterback for the New England Patriots. Maher also shared the video to her TikTok page.
“Tom Brady wanted a selfie with me!! Haha, just kidding,” she wrote on the video as the pair snapped the photo.
In the clip, Brady, decked out in shorts, a blue USA shirt, and a white cap, takes his phone and puts his left arm around Maher as they smile and take the selfie.
“It’s the GOAT and Tom Brady,” someone commented.
“Girl, I would swim to Paris to get a selfie with you,” another person wrote.
“tbh, I’d recognize you before I recognize Tom Brady in public,” another fan gushed.

Brady has been keeping busy while at the Olympics. On August 4, he attended a beach volleyball match with his daughter Vivian, one of his three children.
The next day, he was spotted in the crowd at the women’s balance beam final.
Maher has been one of the breakout stars of these Olympics, helping lead her squad to a bronze medal, the first Olympic medal for the team in its history.
She also shut down a troll who commented that she appeared to have a body mass index (BMI) of 30, suggesting she might be overweight.
“I think you were trying to roast me, but this actually is a fact. I do have a BMI of 30 — well, 29.3 to be more exact,” Maher said on TikTok. “I’ve been considered overweight my whole life.”
She explained how she spoke to her dietician about how BMI is not entirely relevant for athletes before ending her message with a dig at the commenter.
“So, yeah, I do have a BMI of 30. I am considered overweight. But alas, I’m going to the Olympics and you’re not,” she said.
