Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik is taking his talents from the gymnastics arena to the dance floor! Following his groundbreaking performance on the pommel horse at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he earned a historic win for Team USA, Nedoroscik is set to join the cast of Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
The exciting news was unveiled during a live appearance on “Good Morning America” this past Thursday, where Nedoroscik made his debut as the first contestant announced for the upcoming season. “I’m very excited,” the 25-year-old gymnast shared on air. “I’m hoping to bring some [gymnastics] moves … I want to have fun with it.”
Nedoroscik’s participation marks a significant moment in the show’s history as he becomes the first male gymnast to compete on “Dancing With the Stars.”
He follows in the footsteps of prominent female gymnasts such as Suni Lee, who dazzled audiences in Season 30, Simone Biles in Season 24, and Laurie Hernandez, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 23.

While the rest of the Season 33 lineup remains under wraps, the full cast will be revealed live on “Good Morning America” on September 4. This hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about who might join Nedoroscik on the dance floor. Social media has been buzzing with potential names, including NFL star Jason Kelce, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, “Vanderpump Rules” star Tom Sandoval, and even former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. Although these names are generating plenty of excitement, ABC has remained tight-lipped, as the network typically does not comment on casting rumors before the official announcement.
This season will also see the return of familiar faces in the hosting and judging seats. Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro are back as co-hosts, continuing to bring their chemistry and charisma to the show. The judging panel will feature Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli, who are all set to provide their expert critiques and encouragement to the contestants.
Val Chmerkovskiy, the reigning champion among the pro dancers, will also be returning after his victory last season with actress Xochitl Gomez. The duo’s triumph over stiff competition—including second-place finishers Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach, and third-place couple Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov—was a highlight of the previous season. Chmerkovskiy reflected on their win, saying, “It feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice. I’m just proud that this young lady, so early in her life, was able to prove to herself that when you put your mind to something, and you’re willing to work really hard at it, you can accomplish anything.”
Gomez echoed his sentiments, emphasizing how much the show had meant to her. “I’ve always really been who I am and not really cared about what other people thought,” she said. “But at this point in my career, there’s just a certain thing that you need, and this show is exactly what I needed. Just having the support, the family, the friends, and just people caring about me was really nice.”
As fans eagerly await the start of the new season, which premieres on Tuesday, September 17, on ABC and Disney+, the anticipation is building. With Stephen Nedoroscik’s addition to the cast, this season promises to be one filled with incredible talent, inspiring stories, and of course, some unforgettable dance routines.
Whether Nedoroscik’s gymnastics skills will translate into ballroom success remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure—this Olympian is ready to take on a new kind of challenge, and viewers can’t wait to watch it unfold.
