Is TikTok attempting to dim Olivia Dunne’s spotlight? That’s the claim made by the LSU gymnast and social media sensation.
Dunne, boasting over 7.8 million followers on TikTok, raised concerns by commenting on one of her own videos, questioning, “why am I shadow banned?” This assertion is supported by Outkick.com’s David Hoookstead, who highlights the disparity in views on Dunne’s recent videos compared to her typical metrics.

The numbers prompt the question: Is TikTok intentionally limiting her visibility, or has Olivia Dunne’s 15 minutes of fame reached its conclusion?
At the height of her popularity, Dunne faced safety threats that led her to cease attending classes at LSU. In July 2023, she confirmed her inability to attend in-person classes due to concerns about fame and safety, stating, “I don’t want people to know my daily schedule and where I am.”
Dunne remains cautious about her public presence, refraining from posting while still at events, even at LSU campus gatherings like football or baseball games. She explained to NJ.com that her intention is not to attract crowds but rather to discourage it.
Considering the ever-changing algorithms on social media platforms, it’s plausible that a shadow ban, if indeed in effect, may be a result of tweaks or adjustments on TikTok’s end.
