Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is highly regarded as one of college football’s premier quarterbacks heading into the next season.
Until recently, he was the frontrunner for the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but now, Georgia’s Carson Beck has edged ahead of him in projections.
Beck currently holds +300 odds to be selected first overall, with Sanders following at +450. These standings could shift as the 2024 season unfolds, but Beck is generating considerable attention after his performance last season. In his first full year as a starter—taking over from Stetson Bennett—Beck threw for 3,941 yards, notched 24 touchdowns, and was intercepted only six times.

Sanders, on the other hand, will be entering his second season with Colorado. Despite the team’s 4-8 record last year, Sanders had an impressive season, passing for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Both quarterbacks are expected to elevate their game further this season, setting the stage for a tight race for the top spot in next year’s draft.
Additionally, there has been some speculation that social media activity by Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders, might be impacting his draft stock.
As both athletes gear up for a potentially career-defining season, it remains to be seen who will secure the coveted first overall pick in 2025. What are your thoughts on who will go first in the draft?
