In the weeks leading up to his passing at the age of 76, O.J. Simpson took to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, to address concerns and rumors about his health.
In a video dated February 11, shared before the Super Bowl festivities in Las Vegas, Simpson expressed gratitude towards those who had reached out to him, reassuring them about his well-being. “My health is good,” he affirmed, acknowledging some health issues but optimistically noting his recovery and anticipation to return to golfing.
This message of reassurance came shortly after Simpson had responded to circulating rumors regarding his health. Specifically, two days prior, he debunked a report suggesting he was in hospice care for prostate cancer. Simpson’s denial was emphatic: “Hospice? Hos-pice?! You talkin’ about hospice? No, I’m not in any hospice,” he clarified, while also criticizing media reliability. He further shared his plans to host friends in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.

The statement, released on April 10th, read: “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.”
His family requested privacy and grace during this transitional period.
