The going has been a bit tougher for Caitlin Clark in the WNBA.
After going 65-12 during the final two seasons of her collegiate career at Iowa, Caitlin Clark probably got used to winning.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for Clark and the Indiana Fever.
Through the first two games of the 2024 WNBA season, not only are the Fever 0-2, but they’ve also lost those games by a combined 57 points—a historically poor margin.
Clark’s performance has been sub-par statistically as well.
Clark finished with 20 points in her season opener against the Connecticut Sun but only shot 33% from the field and had ten turnovers.
Her home opener on Thursday night was an even worse performance for Clark who shot 2-8 from the field for only nine points.
She did take better care of the basketball though with only three turnovers over 30 minutes.
However, a notorious Caitlin Clark critic, sports media personality Jemele Hill, has come to the defense of Clark following a rough start to her WNBA career by saying that “she will learn” and “she will be fine.”
“Bad teams draft first. This isn’t new. It’s like y’all want to hand-hold her to greatness and not have her earn it like every player had to. As a competitor, CC would be insulted by this idea. She will learn. She’ll be fine. But the real issue is that too many of y’all bit the narrative that the WNBA wasn’t good, because denigrating this league has been the trendy thing to do. Now y’all are acting surprised.”
Hill has previously been critical of Clark, more so the coverage she has received in comparison to black players.
Hill previously was upset that Clark received her own signature shoe from Nike and riled up social media with talk of her WNBA salary.

The outspoken journalist previously posted this on X in reply to news that Clark will have her own signature shoe.
“A’ja Wilson, who is a 2-time league MVP, 2-time WNBA champion, 2-time DPOY, a Finals MVP, a 5 time WNBA All Star, and a best-selling author, is probably somewhere like …”
Clark’s next chance to get right will be on Saturday when they once again take on the New York Liberty which will be broadcast on ABC.
