Nikki Glaser didn’t hold back at the ESPY Awards, delivering a barrage of jokes at the expense of several athletes, including Scottie Scheffler and his recent legal troubles.
The comedian took to the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles to present the award for Best Male Athlete. In her introduction, she quipped about the award going to “peak athletes who push their bodies to the limit and also a golfer,” before turning her sights on Scheffler.
She apologized to Scheffler in her signature sarcastic style, saying, “I know it’s difficult to putt, chip, and drive … over a cop’s leg.” This jab referred to the golfer’s run-in with the law back in May. Scheffler faced one felony count and three misdemeanors after allegedly dragging a police officer with his vehicle outside of the PGA Championship in Louisville.

Scheffler, captured on body cam footage from the incident, claimed he didn’t realize he was dealing with a police officer. He insisted that the situation would have played out differently had he known. Just weeks after the incident, Jefferson County prosecutors filed to dismiss the charges, deeming the event a big misunderstanding.
Glaser’s roasting didn’t stop with Scheffler.
She also targeted other big names, including Tom Brady, the NFL’s fascination with Taylor Swift, and Patrick Mahomes, each joke met with laughter and applause from the audience.
Her sharp humor and fearless approach ensured that no athlete was safe from her comedic barbs. Glaser’s ability to turn a potentially awkward situation into a comedic goldmine was a highlight of the evening, leaving the crowd in stitches.
Despite the jokes at his expense, Scheffler has moved past his arrest, and Glaser’s punchline about him proved to be a perfect hole-in-one.
The ESPY Awards were filled with memorable moments, but Glaser’s fearless jabs and quick wit undoubtedly stole the show.
