Legendary Alabama Crimson Tide Coach Nick Saban, who announced his retirement in January, has been adjusting to his newfound free time like millions of other retirees across America.
At 72, Saban is focusing on his golf game but not before fulfilling some household responsibilities.
During The Masters Tournament on Friday, Saban shared a glimpse into his daily routine now that he’s not on the football field. Before he can hit the links, there are a few tasks he must complete at home. “I need to make the bed, take out the trash, and have a meal with Miss Terry before I’m allowed to go play golf,” Saban revealed, highlighting the everyday chores that keep him grounded.
Saban, who is not a member of Augusta National but has played the prestigious course frequently, recalled his recent round of golf there with baseball legend Ken Griffey Jr. Speaking on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning,” Saban admitted his putting needed work. “It ain’t putter, I can promise you that,” he said, detailing a frustrating experience with multiple four-putts while playing with Griffey Jr., whom he described as a great guy and skilled golfer.

The conversation about Saban’s golfing exploits briefly shifted to his relationship with Griffey Jr., with Saban noting, “I’ve met him a couple of times, and he has a couple of sons that were prospects. I got to meet him along the way. But he’s a really good guy and really good golfer, and we had a lot of fun.”
It’s refreshing to see that even someone as accomplished as Nick Saban follows the simple principle of keeping his spouse happy — a universal truth that resonates with many, proving that he truly is just like the rest of us.
