Nia Long, an actress, is requesting sole custody of her 11-year-old son, whom she shares with Ime Udoka, the head coach of the Houston Rockets.
Long and Udoka ended their 13-year relationship last year after Udoka had an affair with a coworker while he was the head coach of the Boston Celtics.
According to The Blast, Long has filed a case in Los Angeles County Court seeking full custody of their son, Kez.
Additionally, she is asking for Udoka to cover all the attorney fees related to the case.
The situation is expected to develop into a custody battle, which will likely involve some form of child support.
During a December interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Long expressed the emotional toll she and her son experienced as a result of their situation being made public by the Boston Celtics organization.
She described the heartbreak of seeing her son’s reaction and expressed disappointment that none of the Celtics personnel had reached out to check on their well-being.
Udoka, in September, issued an apology for his behavior, expressing regret for letting down the team, fans, and his family. He also accepted the team’s decision and refrained from further commenting on the matter.
In April, Udoka was hired as the head coach of the Houston Rockets, with Houston owner Tilman Fertitta stating that the NBA had given their approval after extensive discussions.
