After clinching their second consecutive Super Bowl victory, the Kansas City Chiefs have been dubbed the NFL’s new dynasty, capturing three Lombardi Trophies in just five years.
Their latest triumph over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 marked the NFL’s first repeat championship in nearly two decades.
In a candid discussion on “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” NFL Vice President of Broadcast Planning Mike North acknowledged the Chiefs as the league’s flagship for marquee scheduling, attributing their challenging 2024 lineup filled with primetime games to their status as the league’s “bellcow.” North highlighted, “They’ve been our bellcow for a while, right? They’re kind of used to carrying our water for some of these unique kind of opportunities. You think about that Peacock playoff game last year…put a Chiefs game there. If Amazon wants to continue to try and build Black Friday into an event…put a Chiefs game there. You want to make Christmas on Netflix a thing? Put a Chiefs game there.”

The 2024 season will see the Chiefs playing on six different days of the week, a testament to their drawing power and the league’s confidence in their ability to anchor major broadcast events.
Notably, the Chiefs will play against Russell Wilson’s Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day, which falls on a Wednesday, and will also host the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday.
Other key matchups include two Monday night games against the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and a Thursday night season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. Additionally, a Saturday game in late December will pit them against CJ Stroud’s Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.
With the NFL’s history still void of any team winning three consecutive Super Bowls—a feat narrowly missed by the 1990 San Francisco 49ers and 1994 Dallas Cowboys—the Chiefs are poised to make a historic run at a third straight title. Given their track record of reaching six consecutive AFC title games and appearing in four of the last five Super Bowls, betting against this team requires caution.
