The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their spot in the Divisional Round of the playoffs with a decisive 32-9 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. However, it seems the NFL Shop may have jumped the gun with its promotional email.
A fan shared a screenshot revealing an unfortunate email from NFL Shop. Despite the subject line enthusiastically proclaiming “Buccaneers Advance! Gear up for the Divisional Round,” the body of the email promoted Eagles merchandise and incorrectly stated that they had advanced. Adding to the mix-up, the email featured advertising for a Jason Kelce jersey, but as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the star center informed teammates of his retirement following Monday’s loss.
It appears there was an accidental mix-up in sending out the wrong email.
Reflecting on the unexpected turn of events, if someone had predicted last year that the Buccaneers would eliminate the Eagles in 2024, it might have been met with disbelief. Tom Brady’s retirement announcement just before Philadelphia’s Super Bowl appearance added to the surprising narrative.

While the Eagles retained their core players in hopes of another title run, the Buccaneers, initially seen as poised for a rebuild, emerged as NFC South winners. Baker Mayfield, with a resurgent performance, led Tampa Bay to victory, amassing 337 passing yards and three touchdowns against the Eagles.
Conversely, the Eagles experienced a late-season collapse, losing six of their last seven games after a promising 10-1 start and allowing an average of 30.6 points per game during that stretch.
Despite the disheartening outcome for Eagles fans, Mayfield jerseys might see increased popularity, considering the quarterback’s impactful play on a one-year deal.
