FOX NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews has downplayed her involvement as a matchmaker in the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
Andrews, along with “Calm Down” podcast co-host Charissa Thompson, reportedly acted as wing-women for the Kansas City Chiefs star, encouraging the pop superstar to consider giving him a chance last summer.
Although the sports presenters have been credited with igniting the romance, which captured attention throughout the NFL last season, Andrews has played down their role.
Kelce himself even expressed gratitude towards them for their involvement.
Erin Andrews has emphasized that she and Charissa Thompson don’t seek credit for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship.

In an interview with the New York Post, Andrews clarified that their encouragement for Swift to date the three-time Super Bowl winner was simply a suggestion made “for America.”
Kelce and Swift’s whirlwind romance captivated the NFL throughout the season, with significant media attention directed towards the singer as she attended Chiefs games in stadiums across the country.
Despite the attention their relationship garnered, it also faced backlash, particularly from what Swift herself referred to as the ‘Dads, Brads, and Chads.’
However, Erin Andrews expressed her inability to comprehend the criticism, asserting that the presence of Swift is undeniably bringing a positive influence to the sport.
“This whole media fascination with her being involved in our sport, and people having opinions about it hurting the league — are you kidding me? She’s incredible for our sport,’ Andrews told The Post.
‘I find [Swift] to be completely fascinating and empowering, and I feel like now more than ever,’ Andrews added, ‘she’s opened the door to these young female viewers.”
