Live performances don’t always unfold according to plan, and this was evident during the Thanksgiving halftime show at AT&T Stadium featuring the legendary Dolly Parton.
Parton, an icon in the music industry, took the stage and delivered a captivating performance for the Cowboys’ halftime show. She treated the audience to renditions of her own hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” along with her unique take on “We Are the Champions.”
While Parton’s musical talents were a highlight, her outfit stole much of the spotlight. The 11-time Grammy Award winner embraced the theme by dressing up as a cheerleader for “America’s Team.”

However, some fans noted that Parton appeared to be holding onto certain parts of the stage during her performance. NFL reporter Jane Slater took to social media to shed light on the situation, revealing that Parton was originally supposed to have a supporting stand, but the plan fell through on the day of the performance.
“For those knocking my girl for just holding on here, she was supposed to come out of the Star and have a stand supporting her” Slater wrote on Instagram. “It didn’t work.”
Despite the unexpected glitch, Parton remained undeterred and continued to deliver an engaging show. The Thanksgiving game for the Cowboys, featuring Parton’s halftime performance, drew an average of 41.438 million viewers.
Regardless of any critiques, it’s clear that Dolly Parton remains a true entertainer who can captivate audiences with her talent and resilience.
