An NFL quarterback’s mom didn’t hold back her criticism after her son’s performance in Sunday’s game. The Baltimore Ravens suffered a tough 24-19 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles relied on their ground game to overpower the Ravens, with Saquon Barkley putting in another stellar performance.
The MVP candidate rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, leading the Eagles’ offensive charge. While Jalen Hurts had a quiet day through the air, throwing for just 118 yards, Philadelphia’s rushing attack was enough to secure the victory.
On the other side, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had a solid game statistically. He completed passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 79 rushing yards on eight carries. Despite his contributions, it wasn’t enough to get Baltimore the win, and apparently, it wasn’t enough to satisfy his biggest critic—his mother.
After the game, Jackson revealed that his mom, Felicia Jones, didn’t shy away from pointing out where he could have done better. Jones, who has been a major influence on Jackson’s football career since his early days, was not happy with her son’s decision-making during the game.
“My momma just told me that. She just cussed me out,” Jackson said with a slight smile during the postgame interview.
According to Jackson, his mother was particularly disappointed in his reluctance to take advantage of some of the running lanes that opened up against the Eagles’ defense. “She said there were lanes I should have taken and ran,” Jackson shared. “I was just trying to let guys develop routes. We had developing routes. I was just trying to go through my progression, but yeah, she [was] right.”

Jackson admitted that he wasn’t satisfied with his own performance either. Despite the respectable stat line, he felt there were opportunities left on the field, and his frustration was palpable. “I’m mad. We’re going to get after it. I’m not going to lie to you, we’re going to get after it. I can’t wait for this bye to get on,” Jackson said, referring to the upcoming week off. “We got the Giants coming up, I’m ready to go.”
The Ravens’ loss to the Eagles dropped them to 8-5 on the season, continuing a rough patch where they have now lost two of their last three games.
Their previous loss came at the hands of their AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, earlier in November.
Baltimore’s playoff hopes are still alive, but their recent struggles have raised questions about whether they can regain momentum and finish the season strong.
With the bye week ahead, Jackson and the Ravens have a chance to regroup and make the necessary adjustments before taking on the New York Giants on Sunday, December 15. Felicia Jones’ critical eye might just be the motivation Jackson needs to come back stronger.
After all, Jackson has always credited his mother as one of his biggest supporters and toughest coaches, and her straightforward feedback is something he’s learned to take to heart.
As Baltimore looks to get back on track, Jackson will aim to balance his progressions with trusting his instincts, hoping to lead the Ravens back into playoff contention.
