The Playmaker is out.
Michael Irvin, a fixture at NFL Network since 2009, was let go as part of the network’s recent layoffs, according to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand.
His departure comes after a suspension in February 2023 following allegations of improper behavior at a hotel during the Super Bowl in Arizona. Irvin responded by filing a $100 million defamation lawsuit against the accuser and the Marriott hotel, which was settled in September, leading to his brief return to the network.

Irvin, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, was predominantly featured on the Sunday program NFL GameDay Morning and was a regular on NFL Total Access, one of the network’s longest-running shows.
However, NFL Network has decided to cancel NFL Total Access after two decades, with the final episode scheduled to air on Friday, May 17. Following the cancellation, the slot previously occupied by NFL Total Access will now feature the NFL Network’s Insiders show, which includes reporters Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo, and Tom Pelissero.
