The New England Patriots find themselves embroiled in controversy once more.
NFL Films reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the portrayal of former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick in “The Dynasty” on Apple TV+.
The docuseries chronicles the Patriots’ remarkable two-decade reign of dominance from 2001 to 2019, marked by six Super Bowl triumphs and nine AFC championship victories.
Despite engineering the most illustrious dynasty in NFL history, Belichick faced criticism and negative depictions throughout the series. Even Tom Brady admitted that he departed from New England in 2020 due to their strained relationship.
According to a report by Ben Volin of The Boston Globe, NFL Films disapproved of Belichick’s portrayal in the series. Consequently, they chose not to collaborate with director Matthew Hamachek on the project:

“While NFL Films is acknowledged in the credits of ‘The Dynasty,’ an NFL Films insider revealed the organization’s dissatisfaction with Bill Belichick’s portrayal in the series, leading them to distance themselves from director Matthew Hamachek’s work.”
Belichick and the Patriots parted ways after the 2023 season, following a dismal 4-13 campaign. It was the franchise’s poorest record since the 1992 season, during which they finished 2-14. In the initial four years after Brady’s departure, the Patriots endured three losing seasons and failed to secure a single playoff victory.
