The NFL enthusiastically hopped aboard the Taylor Swift bandwagon without any reservations. Their aim was to attract a completely new audience, and to achieve this, they employed some rather intriguing tactics.
Travis Kelce has raised concerns that the NFL may be overhyping his rumored romance with Taylor Swift, and he might have a valid point.
Cameras consistently captured glimpses of the singer while she occupied a suite at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears. The following week, when the Chiefs faced the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, cameras were even more vigilant.
What made it even easier for the cameras was a rumored tactic employed by the NFL. It’s been reported that the NFL used a piece of tape with Taylor Swift’s name on it to help camera operators quickly locate her in the stadium when the broadcast required shots of her reactions.
Despite all the buzz surrounding her presence, the pop sensation did not make an appearance at US Bank Stadium on Sunday to watch the Chiefs take on the Minnesota Vikings.
During Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce experienced a non-contact ankle injury but quickly returned to the game. Kelce hauled in a short pass from Patrick Mahomes early in the second quarter and went down on the turf at U.S. Bank Stadium without being tackled. Swifties promptly flooded social media with calls to ban artificial turf.
In total, Kelce wrapped up Week 5 with an impressive performance, amassing a season-high 10 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Kelce, known as one of the NFL’s premier tight ends, has now also become one of the most recognizable athletes in pop culture, all thanks to his association with Taylor Swift. The NFL successfully garnered substantial free publicity from this, and perhaps it’s time for them to shift their focus back to promoting their players and teams.
