No one at Madison Square Garden was more excited about the New York Knicks’ Game 2 victory than John Starks.
On Monday, the Knicks secured a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers, thanks to a determined finish in the 104-101 game.
Starks, familiar with big moments at MSG, was visibly enthusiastic on the sidelines whenever the Knicks executed a significant play.

He was seated next to another Knicks legend, Carmelo Anthony. While Melo maintained the demeanor of a former player observing the game, Starks exuded immense pride and support.
Starks also celebrated the Knicks’ Game 1 victory, jubilantly raising his arms — and a beer — when Josh Hart sank a crucial three-pointer towards the end of the match.
Having played 14 seasons in the NBA, Starks is best remembered for his eight years with the Knicks.
His standout season was in 1993-94, when the 6’5? guard made his first and only All-Star appearance, averaging 19.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game across 59 games. He also earned the Sixth Man of the Year Award in the 1996-97 season.
Years after his last NBA game, Starks’ enthusiasm for basketball and the Knicks remains as strong as ever.
