A whole bunch of Villanova alumni were present when the New York Knicks defeated the Brooklyn Nets 105-93 Saturday afternoon.
Knicks guards Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Donte Divincenzo all played together for two seasons on the Villanova Wildcats in 2015-16 and 2016-17 with Nets forward Mikal Bridges.

Following the game, Hart compared his ex-college teammate Bridges to Squidward from the popular cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants as he referenced the current situation Bridges is in while playing with the Nets.
“It’s like that SpongeBob meme when Squidward is looking out the window and he sees SpongeBob and Patrick having fun. [Mikal] is Squidward.”
The Knicks have had a highly successful season in 2023-24 as they are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference with a 42-28 record.
The 26-45 Nets have experienced the opposite, however.
Brunson, Hart, Bridges, and Divincenzo were highly successful during their time in college together as they won the National Championship in 2016 and combined for a record of 67-9 during the two seasons in which all of them played together.
