Concerning news for a New York Jets cornerback.
Brandin Echols is reportedly being sued by a New Jersey man who claims he was “partially paralyzed” after Echols lost control of his car and ran him off the road.
In a brief ten-second dash-cam clip obtained by The NY Post, Echols can be observed driving the 2021 Hellcat, attempting to pass Gilberg’s 2018 BMW X5 from the left.

Suddenly, the muscle car veers right and crashes into the driver’s side of the BMW, sending Gilberg’s SUV careening over the guardrail.
The BMW ended up overturned in a marshy area, as described by the victim.
Gilberg remained trapped inside the flipped BMW for an hour until emergency responders were able to free him from the vehicle, according to his attorney.
The collision left Gilberg with broken ribs and severe injuries, including loss of feeling and movement in both hands and his right leg, necessitating spinal surgery, according to police reports.
Gilberg mentioned in court documents that he is still undergoing treatment for his injuries.
According to police records, an investigation revealed that Echols was traveling at a speed of 84 mph, significantly exceeding the 50-mph speed limit, just five seconds before the collision occurred.
“The data recorder had him [at top speed] upwards of 111 mph,” charged Gilberg’s attorney, Nicholas Leonardis.
Echols was not injured in the accident.
Echols was a sixth round pick in the 2021 NFL draft by the Jets.
For his career, Echols has three interceptions and two defensive touchdowns over 41 games played for the Jets.
