According to ESPN reports, the New York Jets are actively exploring trade possibilities in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft later this month.
Holding the No. 10 overall pick in the first round, the Jets are keen on trading down to secure additional assets, particularly from a team seeking a quarterback.
Rich Cimini, providing insights into the situation, suggests that the Jets are eager to entertain trade proposals from quarterback-needy teams, aiming to secure a top-100 pick in return. Several teams, such as the Minnesota Vikings (11th), Denver Broncos (12th), and Las Vegas Raiders (13th), could be inclined to move up in the draft order.

“What they’d really like is a trade proposal from a quarterback-needy team, which would allow them to acquire a top-100 pick. A handful of teams behind them, most notably the Minnesota Vikings (11th), Denver Broncos (12th) and Las Vegas Raiders (13th), might be motivated to move up.
It probably will be contingent on the availability of a top quarterback — Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy. Problem is, it’s unlikely that one of them will slip to 10. The Jets need Bo Nix to get so hot that a team wants to jump the crowd for him. A team also may covet the Jets’ pick as part of a leapfrog plan to a higher spot”
However, the likelihood of a top quarterback prospect, including Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, or J.J. McCarthy, slipping to the 10th spot appears slim. The Jets may need Bo Nix to gain considerable traction, prompting a team to leapfrog competitors for his services. Alternatively, another team may covet the Jets’ pick as part of a strategy to advance to a higher draft position.
While it remains a possibility that one of the top quarterbacks could unexpectedly fall to No. 10, such an outcome is deemed unlikely. Williams, Daniels, Maye, and McCarthy are all highly regarded prospects, with expectations of being selected within the top five picks. Nevertheless, there’s a chance that unforeseen circumstances could allow the Jets to take advantage of a potential trade-back scenario.
The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to commence on Thursday, April 25th.
