The New York Giants are about to lose an integral part of their offense.
New York Giants tight end Darren Waller is reportedly on the verge of announcing his retirement before the team’s upcoming mandatory minicamp next week, sources suggest.
The Giants and those close to the organization have anticipated this move, which would provide the team with substantial financial relief. Waller’s retirement would release $11.625 million in cap space for the 2024 season.

Having joined the Giants in 2023, Waller has been weighing his future in the sport while also pursuing interests in music.
If Waller retires or is released, the Giants would realize $11.6 million in cap savings, with $2.5 million counting as dead money this year and an additional $4.9 million in 2025.
Waller has three years left on the extension he signed with the Raiders in 2022. His contract carries a cap hit of $14.08 million for the upcoming season, $15.4 million in 2025, and $17.4 million in 2026.
