The New York Giants were reportedly “not happy” when it was leaked that they would like to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft.
McCarthy shined on his Pro Day which only led to more speculation, although the Minnesota Vikings are still the favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook to draft the University of Michigan product.
The Giants still have quarterback Daniel Jones under contract as they signed him to a four-year, $160 million deal last year.

However, Jones had a rough season in 2023 which ended with a torn ACL in Week 9.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll addressed the Giants quarterback situation on Saturday when speaking with NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“We’re excited to have Drew (Lock), and he knows what his role is going to be. He’s going to get a lot of reps this spring, he needs to learn our system, but again excited to get Daniel back, when he gets back he’ll be the guy.”
It’s unclear as to whether Jones will be ready to be under center for the Giants in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, and the Giants signed quarterback Drew Lock, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, to a one-year deal this offseason.
Lock will presumably start if Jones is not ready, but it should not be ruled out that the Giants use their sixth overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft to select a quarterback.
