During Thursday’s game against the Liberty Flames, a New Mexico State Aggies basketball player found himself ejected after delivering an unexpected punch to the face of his opponent.
New Mexico State’s forward, Robert Carpenter, was dismissed from the game in the first half following an altercation with Shiloh Robinson, leaving the Liberty player writhing in pain on the floor.
Upon reviewing the footage, it became evident that Carpenter had thrown a punch directly at Robinson’s face after a change in possession, as the Flames forward turned to head down the court.
Before the incident, the two players seemed to engage in physicality while jostling for position in the paint, with limbs flailing as they vied to gain an advantage. However, Carpenter crossed the line by delivering the punch, resulting in a Flagrant 2 foul, an ejection from the game, and a probable suspension in the future.
