After a disappointing first-round playoff exit against the Miami Heat, head coach Mike Budenholzer was let go by the Milwaukee Bucks. A coaching search followed and the Bucks announced Adrian Griffin as their new head coach.
Adrian Griffin has an impressive coaching background with 15 years of experience as an assistant coach, most recently for the Toronto Raptors.
However, there are concerning matters outside of basketball. In 2020, Griffin faced allegations of domestic violence, including disturbing accusations.
“In a 2020 social media post, Audrey Griffin accused Adrian of choking her, throwing her into a wall, and dragging her across the lawn while pregnant among other things,” NBA reporter Sam Quinn tweeted. “Griffin has denied the accusations and has not been charged with anything.”
Adrian Griffin is the 4th current NBA head coach accused of violence against women. His ex-wife made the accusation in 2020.
Chauncey Billups was accused of rape in 1997, Jason Kidd plead guilty to spousal abuse in 2001, and Joe Mazzulla was arrested for domestic battery in 2009

Griffin took over a game for the Toronto Raptors in 2020. It was then that his ex-wife made a Twitter post with some disturbing allegations.
“How can someone continuously get away with abuse, almost take a life choking them while on the floor and almost passes out, throw them into a wall making a hole as big as their body, drag them across a lawn while pregnant…
“Breaks down locked doors to get to them, gives them STDs, sleeps with prostitutes, sleeps with a teenage ball girl??? And even though you have receipts for EVERYTHING!!!! How can you do ALL of this and still get away with it?? I will tell you how… just be in the NBA and win a game in the bubble. Cinderfella.”

Griffin strongly denied the allegations when they first surfaced.
“This morning, accusations were made against me on social media by my former wife that I vehemently deny. We are involved in a longstanding legal dispute over alimony and child support arrangements. I am disappointed to have to address false accusations in this way, and I apologize for any distraction this has potentially caused for our team at this important time.”
Adrian Griffin has never been charged with any criminal acts regarding the incident.
