After the Boston Celtics secured a 106-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3, taking a 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals, the atmosphere among the Celtics’ media was noticeably playful at the expense of Mavericks star Luka Doncic.
Doncic, who is known for his skill in drawing fouls and hasn’t shied away from voicing his displeasure with calls, fouled out with about four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with 27 points from 11-of-27 shooting.
Seizing the moment, NBC Sports Boston created a cheeky graphic on X (formerly Twitter), featuring a postgame image of Doncic with the caption “petty o’clock,” highlighting his reaction to the officiating.
Doncic’s frustration was evident, particularly with his fifth and sixth fouls, which were contentious and could be seen as turning points in the game.
With the Mavericks on the brink of a Finals sweep, they are set to host the Celtics for Game 4 on Friday night, where tensions and stakes will undoubtedly be high.
