Jac Collinsworth, son of NBC football analyst Cris Collinsworth, has been the play-by-play announcer for Notre Dame football over the past two seasons. However, he will no longer hold that position.
NBC has reportedly opted to replace Jac Collinsworth following significant criticism over the past two years. Veteran announcer Dan Hicks will take over the role, as reported by The Athletic.
After serving as NBC’s Notre Dame play-by-play voice for two years, Jac Collinsworth will step down, according to officials briefed on the decision. NBC veteran Dan Hicks will assume Collinsworth’s position and join analyst Jason Garrett. Hicks previously called Notre Dame games a decade ago and is best known for his PGA Tour duties.
Collinsworth’s appointment to the role by NBC two years ago was met with criticism due to his limited play-by-play experience, leading to him being labeled with the “nepo-baby” moniker.

Despite his departure, the network reportedly remains optimistic about his potential.
“He will continue to call college football and basketball play-by-play on the network’s streaming service, Peacock, where he will be able to further develop his skills,” The Athletic noted.
Moving forward, NBC’s top broadcasting team will consist of Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge, who will primarily cover primetime Big Ten games.
