There’s at least one NBA star who is not about the spotlight.
While certain NBA stars like Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Jokic definitely don’t embrace the spotlight as much as other stars, it seems like rookie Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is taking that to a very different level.
In a recent interview, the 7’4″ star for the Spurs claims that he isn’t about that “party life”which is commonly associated with NBA players.
“I feel like I’m immune to the distractions like partying, alcohol, drugs. Like, why would I ever do that? … I don’t have nothing to compensate for.”
You know the San Antonio Spurs love hearing that, and probably already knew this about him when they made him the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

It’s also been revealed now that Wemby wouldn’t even take the stage at a concert when invited by Drake to join him on-stage because of an incredibly selfless reason.
“Victor Wembanyama declined Drake’s invite to go on stage because his teammates couldn’t join him, per @7PMinBrooklyn“
The 20-year-old isn’t technically of age to partake in alcohol consumption in the United States, but was certainly old enough to in his home country of France where the drinking age is 18.
Simply put, the legal drinking age isn’t going to stop Wemby from partying if he really wanted to so don’t expect this to become a priority for him as he gets older.
Wembanayama had an incredible rookie season for the Spurs as he lived up to the hype and then some.
Wemby played in 71 games, averaging 21.4 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game, and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game.
While the Spurs did finish 22-60, the future is certainly bright with the 20-year-old leading them it seems.
For comparison’s sake, LeBron James averaged 20.9 points per game his rookie year for the Cleveland Cavalies in 2003-04.
