Utah Jazz star center Walker Kessler couldn’t contain his excitement after his girlfriend, Abbie Stockard, was crowned Miss America 2025. The 22-year-old Alabama native and nursing student won the prestigious title on Sunday during the competition in Orlando, Florida—the same evening the Jazz defeated the Orlando Magic 105-92 in a nearby arena.
A Heartfelt Tribute
Kessler, 23, took to Instagram on Monday to celebrate Stockard’s achievement, posting a touching message that captured his admiration for her dedication and character.
“Congratulations Abbie! I am so proud of you and everything you stand for. Your hard work and trust in the Lord has awarded you with this incredible opportunity! Use your light to shine on others around you! Love you,” Kessler wrote.
The post also included a video clip of Kessler watching the broadcast on his phone. In a candid moment of joy, the 7-foot athlete dropped his phone in disbelief when Stockard’s name was announced as the winner.
After the ceremony, Kessler embraced Stockard in a sweet reunion, showing his unwavering support for her journey.

Stockard’s Rise to Miss America
Stockard, a former Auburn University cheerleader, earned her spot in the national competition by being crowned Miss Alabama in June 2024. Throughout her reign as Miss Alabama, she documented her preparation and excitement leading up to the Miss America competition.
In late December, she shared her enthusiasm on Instagram:
“I am ECSTATIC and so expectant for the experience ahead! Thank you to everyone for all of the sweet messages and words of encouragement! I truly am so appreciative for all of the support. I feel like the most celebrated girl in the state!”
Stockard’s journey to the Miss America crown was marked by her dedication to her platform, her academic pursuits in nursing, and her strong faith.
A Couple in Sync
Though the exact timeline of their relationship is unclear, Stockard and Kessler have been a supportive couple for some time. They rang in New Year’s Day 2024 together in Utah, with Kessler commenting on Stockard’s post, “Excited to start the new year with you.”
Adding to their connection, the couple shares a July 26 birthday, making their bond even more special.
Kessler’s NBA Career
Kessler, who was drafted 22nd overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2022 NBA Draft, has been making waves in the league. Traded twice before starting his NBA career, Kessler eventually landed with the Utah Jazz in a blockbuster trade involving Rudy Gobert.
Now in his third season, Kessler is averaging 10.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, solidifying his role as a key player for the Jazz.
A Shared Spotlight
As both Stockard and Kessler continue to excel in their respective fields, their love and support for one another shine brightly. Stockard’s Miss America win marks a significant milestone in her life, while Kessler’s basketball career continues to ascend.
Their story serves as an inspiring example of two individuals thriving in their passions while standing by each other’s side, sharing both personal and professional victories.
