A “friendly” game between France and Germany on Saturday night turned out to be anything but amicable for a couple of NBA players.
France and Germany clashed at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany, as both teams prepared for the upcoming Olympics. France emerged victorious in the game, but the highlight of the match was the ejection of Evan Fournier after a heated incident with Dennis Schroder during the second quarter.
The altercation began when Schroder was aggressively driving towards the basket with his German team trailing 41-23. As Schroder made his move, Fournier stepped in to provide defensive support and managed to strip the ball from Schroder.
This led to a collision between the two players, resulting in Schroder hitting the floor.

From a different camera angle, it was evident that Schroder, seemingly agitated by the collision, reached out and placed his hands on Fournier’s neck.
In retaliation, Fournier grabbed Schroder by the throat, escalating the situation. This physical confrontation led to Fournier being ejected from the game. Before his ejection, the 31-year-old had contributed 5 points in 8 minutes of play.
Despite the on-court drama, the standout performer of the game was Victor Wembanyama.
The French center dominated the scoreboard, leading both teams with an impressive 25 points. On the German side, Dennis Schroder was the top scorer with 23 points. Germany played without several key players, including Franz and Mo Wagner and Daniel Theis, which may have impacted their performance.
The intense encounter served as a stark reminder that even “friendly” games can sometimes escalate beyond expectations, especially when competitive spirits run high.
