Something positive about the Detroit Pistons for a change.
Malachi Flynn entered the NBA out of San Diego State in 2020 and is already playing for the third team in his NBA career after being traded to the Detroit Pistons in February.
Now, Flynn has made incredible history as he recorded his first career 50-point game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Despite the 50-point effort, the Pistons lost in Atlanta 121-113.
Flynn played 34 minutes off the bench and scored 50 points as he shot 18 for 25 from the field and 9 for 12 from the free throw line.
Flynn’s 50 points are tied for the most points by a player coming off the bench in NBA history with Jamal Crawford and Nick Anderson.
The 25-year-old also had the lowest career scoring average by a 50-point scorer ever.
Flynn also had five assists, six rebounds, and five steals in the game.
The guard has been traded twice this season as the Toronto Raptors, who drafted him with the 29th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, traded him as to the New York Knicks on December 30.
Flynn didn’t last long with the Knicks as they quickly sent him to the Pistons on February 8.
Malachi Flynn’s previous career-high in points for an NBA game was 27.
