The Athletic’s NBA insider Shams Charania was the first to reveal the “Cancun on 3” taunt.
Sources: The exchange between Patrick Beverley and one of the fans in Indianapolis escalated when the Bucks were breaking huddle Thursday night, and the fan yelled, “Cancún…Cancún on 3.” NBA is looking into Beverley’s exchange with fans in game and media postgame, per source.
Beverley is facing a ton of backlash for the ball-throwing incident and his exchanged with a female reporter after the game as he refused to be interviewed by ESPN’s Malinda Adams because she “wasn’t subscribed to his podcast.”
Patrick Beverly tells female reporter from ESPN that she cannot interview him since she doesn’t subscribe to his podcast.
Following the incident, ESPN has reportedly banned Beverley from making any guest appearances on their shows.
Adams, the ESPN producer, has issued a statement in response to Beverley’s actions.
She revealed that the Bucks guard personally called her to apologize, and the Bucks organization also extended their apologies.
Adams has accepted the apology and is choosing to move forward from the incident.
I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am humbled. Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I’ve been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.
Beverley will very likely be suspended by the NBA regarding both incidents.
