Police are now investigating the Patrick Beverley ball-throwing incident, according to The Athletic’s NBA insider Shams Charania.
Indianapolis Police is investigating the incident between Patrick Beverley and a fan during Game 6 of Bucks-Pacers series; detectives confirm to me and @MikeVorkunov they are working with Gainbridge Fieldhouse to review video footage and plan to speak with the parties involved.
According to reports, officers took a case report on May 2 after Beverley threw a basketball twice at Indiana Pacers fans towards the conclusion of the Bucks’ playoff game against the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The report has been passed on to detectives, who are currently seeking additional video footage from the arena and planning to interview the individuals involved.
Once the investigation concludes, detectives anticipate forwarding their findings to prosecutors promptly.
Beverley has yet to make a public statement regarding the criminal investigation.
However, earlier this week on his podcast, “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone,” he expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging them as “inexcusable.”
He attributed his actions to fans’ inappropriate behavior and crossing lines with their trash talk in the arena.
Nonetheless, he reiterated that he understands he shouldn’t have thrown the ball into the crowd.
“It doesn’t matter what was said,” he said. “I have to be better and I will be better.”
No punishment for Beverley has been announced by the NBA yet.
