Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown recently performed Umrah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, accompanied by his former teammate, Taco Fall.
The 27-year-old Brown was photographed alongside Fall and several others as they participated in this significant act of worship in front of the Kaaba on Monday.
Brown, who converted to Islam in 2021, has embraced the practices and principles of his faith, recognizing how it has profoundly impacted his life beyond the basketball court.
In a 2022 interview with the Boston Herald, Brown shared, “Ramadan is something special. It’s something that’s saved my life in a lot of ways. So shoutout to all the people who are participating and shoutout to everybody who shows respect because, in reality, some things are bigger than basketball.”

Demonstrating the values of kindness and gratitude preached by his faith, Brown recently made headlines for a heartwarming gesture.
During the Celtics’ championship parade on July 2, he lost a custom ring, which was later found and returned by fans Adi and Luke. Brown posted a video on his Instagram showing his meeting with the fans to personally thank them.
In the video, Brown, dressed in a hoodie and sunglasses, meets Adi and Luke on Causeway Street in Boston. He asks them to keep their voices down as he expresses his gratitude by giving them gifts, including a signed basketball and jersey. He also hands them an envelope, which Luke initially refuses to take. “We really just wanted you to have it back,” Adi tells Brown, emphasizing their genuine intention.
Brown’s contributions on and off the court have made him a standout figure. He played a pivotal role in leading the Boston Celtics to their historic 18th NBA title, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
His performance in the NBA Finals proved him worthy of the five-year, $304 million supermax extension he signed with the Celtics in 2023.
Brown averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the Finals, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication.
As Jaylen Brown continues to honor his faith and excel in his basketball career, he serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that some things are indeed bigger than basketball. His journey to Mecca and his acts of kindness reflect the profound impact of his beliefs on his life and career.
