The Brooklyn Nets have narrowed down their list as to who will be their next head coach.
Former NBA guard and former UConn Huskies head coach Kevin Ollie, who won a National Championship with the Huskies in 2014, is currently the team’s interim head coach following the firing of Jacque Vaughn in February.
However, the Nets are not planning on proceeding with him as head coach next season.
Among the three finalists to be their next head coach, former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer is said to be part of the trio.
Budenholzer won an NBA championship with the Bucks in 2021 before being fired by the team in May of 2023.
Budenholzer has an impressive track record as a head coach in the NBA compiling a 484-317 record with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013 to 2018 and the Bucks from 2018 to 2023.
It should also be noted that the Nets head coaching position is considered an “attractive job” per The Athletic’s NBA insider Shams Charania.
“Armed with a talented two-way player in Mikal Bridges, future draft picks and salary cap space and flexibility in Brooklyn, the Nets have been an appealing proposition to prospective candidates for the head job.”
The Nets have had a rough season in 2023-24 as at 32-49 they will easily miss the Eastern Conference’s play-in tournament.
