Whoops!
New York Knicks fans aren’t going to like hearing this.
The NBA admitted that the referees in the Philadelphia 76ers Game 5 playoff victory over the New York Knicks made a crucial mistake.
“The NBA’s L2M Report from Sixers-Knicks Game 5 says that Tyrese Maxey traveled before his 4-point play with 25.4 left in regulation and should have resulted in a turnover
New York was up by 6 at that point and would go on to lose in OT.”
Tyrese Maxey would later go on to hit a three to tie the game and send it into overtime.
Both teams have mounted comebacks from deficits of at least five points within the last 30 seconds of regulation to secure a victory in this series.
This feat was a rarity before these playoffs, occurring only three times in the past 25 years. Remarkably, it has now happened twice within the span of 10 days in the same venue.
Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday night in Philadelphia, and if Philadelphia emerges victorious, Game 7 will return to New York on Saturday night.
