Bubba Wallace, the 30-year-old NASCAR driver, and his wife Amanda Carter are thrilled to announce they are expecting their first child.
The couple shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, April 17, with a post featuring several photos and a small ultrasound image in each. They playfully captioned the post, “Spring has sprung, Summer will be rad. Fall is the first time, We’ll be mom and dad!” They revealed that their baby is due in October.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Wallace humorously noted that the baby’s due date coincides with his birthday week. He quipped, “‘It would be the worst to have a baby on your birthday/birthday week,'” and joked, “Me: ‘well damn…okay’ Coming…my birthday week???.”

Wallace and Carter have been together since reconnecting after high school, having first met as teenagers. Carter shared with PEOPLE in 2023 how special their long-term connection is, saying, “We still reminisce or talk about things from the past. We just know so much about each other’s lives from so long ago.”
The couple tied the knot on New Year’s Eve 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they shared handwritten vows in a heartfelt ceremony, followed by a New Year celebration with a champagne toast and a late-night snack from a McDonald’s food truck serving chicken nuggets and fries.
Wallace expressed his excitement about their married life to PEOPLE, “Getting married, and starting a new life together, I’m just so excited to have a good one in my corner. We have so much fun together.”
The couple previously expanded their family in July 2020 by adopting an Australian shepherd-poodle mix named Asher. Wallace introduced the puppy on social media with a photo of the couple holding him, adorned with a red bandana, and wrote, “Let me tell ya ’bout my best friend. Asher meet the world.”
Wallace reflected on their time with Asher in March 2021, telling PEOPLE, “We’ve just been really enjoying Asher. He’s been a really good dog, like an extremely good dog. He makes it really hard to leave during the day. But he’s a blast and we’ve just been really enjoying our time together with him.”
