Even the legendary Muggsy Bogues is taken aback by this surprising revelation.
Bogues, known for being the shortest player in NBA history at 5-foot-3, recently discovered that his career offensive rebound percentage surpasses that of Kevin Durant’s, who stands at 6-foot-10.
Over Bogues’ 14-year career from 1987-2001, he achieved an impressive 2.3 offensive rebound percentage, defying expectations for a player of his stature.
In contrast, Durant, despite his exceptional scoring abilities, has never excelled in offensive rebounding, currently holding a 2.2 offensive rebound percentage.
This unlikely statistic circulated on Reddit, becoming a viral sensation.
“Even though I was a small guard, I always got those long rebounds,” Bogues said. “I chased them down. I was in the right place at the right time. But I didn’t know my percentage was better than Kevin Durant.”
On a recent episode of “The Hoop Chat with Emily Austin,” Bogues responded to the revelation stating, “[Durant] needs to get in there and rebound a little more.”
Although unaware of the exact numbers, Bogues emphasized the significance of offensive rebounding in his game, citing his ability to secure long rebounds and position himself effectively.

Durant, who was traded from the Nets to the Suns last season, posted a career-low in offensive rebounds with just 0.4 per game.
While he maintains a respectable 7.1 total rebounds per game as a forward, the majority originate from the defensive end, with only 0.7 offensive rebounds per game.
In contrast, Bogues showcased his all-around skills throughout his career, averaging 7.7 points, 7.6 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.6 rebounds per game for the Bullets, Hornets, Warriors, and Raptors.
