Here we go again.
The poor quality of MLB uniforms was evident once again during the recent game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets.
In the seventh inning at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, the Dodgers were behind 6-4. Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit a line drive to left field and dove into second base for a double, resulting in his pants tearing apart.

The game concluded with more than just damaged clothing for the Dodgers, who lost 9-4 to the Mets.
This incident is part of an ongoing issue with uniforms this season, highlighted by other occurrences like Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene’s pants ripping during a slide into home plate in an April 9 game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Fanatics and Nike, responsible for producing the uniforms, have been pointing fingers at each other. Nike was tasked with designing them, while Fanatics handled the manufacturing. Player dissatisfaction with the uniforms had already surfaced before the start of the 2024 MLB season.
Each incident that goes viral continues to amplify the critical chatter surrounding the inadequate quality of these uniforms.
