Major League Baseball has addressed the controversial conclusion of Thursday’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox.
According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the league informed the White Sox that the interference call, which ended the game, was incorrect.
Despite this acknowledgment, the game’s outcome will remain unchanged.
The incident occurred with the White Sox having the tying runs on base when Andrew Vaughn was called out for interfering with Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson on a pop fly.
The interference, which appeared minimal and had little effect on Henderson’s ability to make the play, resulted in the White Sox losing their opportunity to tie the game.
This week has been particularly frustrating for the White Sox, who, with a 15-36 record, are already struggling and do not need additional setbacks due to questionable umpiring decisions.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Orioles are going in a completely different direction with a solid 30-18 record.
