This star-studded squad, featuring NBA legends Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan, was sent to Barcelona, Spain, with a mission to reclaim the Olympic Gold after Russia’s victory in 1988.
The “Dream Team” dominated their opponents, winning each game with a staggering margin of 44 points.
This period also marked a significant moment for Michael Jordan, who was elevating the NBA to new global heights.
Shortly after the Olympics, Jordan and the Chicago Bulls completed their first three-peat, solidifying their dominance in the basketball world.
By the end of the decade, Jordan had become a 6-time NBA Champion, with an impeccable record in the NBA Finals and six NBA Finals MVP awards. Recently, Jordan revisited Europe, where the “Dream Team” had inspired countless future NBA stars.
During his visit to Italy, enthusiastic NBA fans recognized him and showered him with “goat noises,” a gesture symbolizing their profound admiration and reverence for the basketball legend.
